Last week I shared about how children need to develop their executive functioning skills through play and opportunities to practice autonomy or independence. By doing this, we are setting them up for future academic success.

I don’t know about you, but when I learnt about this aspect of children’s learning, I felt a little liberated. Ticking off from the checklist of being able to read, write and count at such a young age seem to be the least of my worries.

I'm not saying it's not important though. It is. But knowing this made me approach these aspects of learning differently.
